Curated by Jorge Baldor, historian, art collector, and founder of the Latino Arts Project, this densely layered exhibition centers on the centuries-long journey of the Gullah-Muscogo people and their culture - from West Africa to the eventual founding of the town of Nacimiento de los Negros, Mexico.Part art exhibition, part archival display, Baldor has paired artists working in diverse media with historical documents, maps and artifacts to tell "a story of resilience, culture and freedom."The exhibition also includes a selection of oil pastel on paper sketches by renowned contemporary artist Sedrick Huckaby who visited Mexico over a four-month period in 2023 to work on this portrait series of the present-day people of Nacimiento that depicts a community deeply connected to their history.

You're invited to a comprehensive session showcasing the grant writing and proposal development services available to UTA faculty and staff. Led by Center for Proposal Development (CPD) Director, Dolores Raivzee-Bell, the presentation will feature insights from proposal specialists across each college, offering practical guidance and support strategies. We’re also pleased to introduce Scott Miller, UTA’s new Associate Vice President of Research. Dr. Miller will share his vision for the role and highlight key areas of strategic focus. The session will include a brief walkthrough of the CPD website, including PIVOT: Funding opportunity software, Resource Library: Grant templates and sample proposals, and Upcoming Workshops: Sessions to support your proposal development journey.
