Men’s Tennis Set For WAC Tournament As No. 2 Seed Against Abilene Christian
ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team (10-9) heads into the Western Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday, April 18, as the No. 2 seed where they will face off with the No. 3 seeded Abilene Christian Wildcats at 2 p.m. CT at the Arlington Tennis Center.
The winner of the matchup will clinch their spot in the finals of the 2025 WAC Tournament where they will face the winner of No. 1 Grand Canyon and No. 4 Seattle U on championship Saturday.
On the season, Andres Medus leads the way for the Mavs in singles play, holding a 13-5 dual record. Medus has gone 10-3 on Court 2 while going 3-1 on Court 1 and 0-1 on Court 3. Mattia Ricci holds solid with a 9-3 dual match record, going 5-2 on Court 4, 2-0 on Court 5 and 0-1 on Court 3. Mattia Ricci holds a 7-3 record with a 5-2 record on Court 4 with a 2-0 record on Court 5 with an 2-1 record on Court 3. Yazid Lahjomri holds steady with a 8-5 dual record with a 6-1 record on Court 6 with a 2-3 record on Court 5 and 0-1 on Court 4.
In doubles action, the duo of Meethre Barot and Pedro Sasso have solidified their selves as the top doubles team for the Mavs, holding an impressive 12-4 as a team on the season with a 9-4 record from Court 1 and a 3-0 record from Court 2. The team of Medus and Ricci hold strong with a 11-5 dual record for the season with an 9-2 record from Court 3 while going 2-3 on Court 2.
The Mavericks lead the all-time series over Abilene Christian, 8-3 in a series that dates back to 1989. UTA has won the last five matches and this will be the second time the two have met in the conference tournament, with UTA taking down ACU 4-0 in the 2023 WAC Championship match.

The Wildcats enter Friday with an 11-10 overall record and have dropped both matches earlier this season against UTA.ACU's No. 1 player is Daniel Morozov who's compiled a 7-4 doubles record and a 6-9 singles mark this season.
