Chandler, Ariz. – The UT Arlington men's golf team will look to finish strong in its fall opener after turning in rounds of 285 and 281 and sitting tied for seventh overall after shooting 10 under par from day one at the Whirlwind Invitational from the Whirlwind Golf Club.
 
The Mavericks' performance was highlighted by a strong showing by freshman Arth Sinha who currently sits tied for 17th overall with five under par while as a team the Mavs have 36 birdies which is the sixth best mark from day one.

Arth Sinha

• Sinha started the fall season on fire, sinking three birdies through the first nine holes of round one while finishing the round with 12 pars and two bogeys to finish two under par with a score of 70.
• Round two saw Sinha finish with five birdies, 11 pars and two bogeys to finish three under par for with a score of 69 for the round and currently sits tied 17th overall in the individual standings.

Ajay Morris

• Finished round one two under par with a score of 70 with five birdies, 10 pars and three bogeys.
• Finished round two one under par with a score of 71 with the Mavs lone eagle of the day to go along with four birdies, eight pars and five bogeys to finish day one three under par.

Nicholas Lyman

• Finished round one even while shooting one under par in round two to finish tied for 39th after day one.
• Finished the day with five birdies, 27 pars and four bogeys on the day to finish the day one under par.

Jerry Huang

• Huang finished round one two over par with three birdies, 10 pars and five bogeys. Finished round two at two under par with six birdies, eight pars and four bogeys. 
• Made the biggest leap in the individual standings on the team by moving up 10 spots to finish day one tied for 39th overall after finishing even on the day.

Matthew Broder

• Shot 73 in round one behind a birdie, 15 pars and two bogeys.
• Shot 74 in round two behind three birdies, 10 pars and five bogeys.

Michael Chevalier as an individual

• Shot one under par in both rounds one and two to finish tied for 31st overall in the individual standings.
• Finished the day with seven birdies, 25 pars, three bogeys and one double bogey.

 
NEXT UP
UTA will wrap up Whirlwind Invitational play with its final round on Tuesday, September 9, with an 10 a.m. CT shotgun start from the Whirlwind Golf Club.
