MGOLF: Mavs Conclude Round One of WAC Championships Tied for Fourth

PAYSON, Arizona – UT Arlington men's golf shot a strong opening round Friday to open the WAC Men's Golf Championships from Chaparral Pines in Payson, Arizona. UTA is tied for fourth place in the team competition at +12 (300), and both Cameron Beck and Ethan Miller are in a tie for 10th individually, both at +2.

Beck was the tournament leader heading into his final stretch of three holes. The junior from Mansfield, Texas, birdied on three occasions (on Nos. 2, 12 and 14), while carding pars on 12 other holes.
 
Miller, a graduate student from Austin, also birdied three times, on Nos. 3, 14 and 15, while firing pars on 10 holes.
 
UTA entered play as the eighth seed and climbed four spots in the opening round. The Mavs continue play with the second round Saturday, and the Mavs are set to tee off beginning at 11:20 a.m. CT.
