Rupp Joins UTA Baseball Staff

ARLINGTON, Texas – Cameron Rupp, a former catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, will join the UT Arlington staff as an assistant coach after spending the 2024-25 season at Blinn Community College.

Prior to his time in Brenham, TX, Rupp was apart of the Texas Longhorns staff as a student assistant in 2023. Rupp brings with him 14 years of professional baseball experience, including five seasons of play at the Major League Baseball level.

Rupp will primarily work with the catchers, as well as develop the offense.

"We are very excited to welcome Cameron Rupp to the Maverick family. He brings instant credibility, having played several years in the MLB," head coach Mike Trapasso says. "He will be a tremendous asset as a coach, recruiter and representative of UTA Baseball."

Rupp graduated from Prestonwood Christian Academy in 2007 and continued his baseball and academic career at Texas. After his run at Texas from 2008-10, Rupp was drafted in the third round (108th overall) in the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft.

Rupp made his MLB debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in September 2013. When his time in the Majors ended in 2017, Rupp had amassed 240 hits, 57 doubles, 39 home runs, and 124 RBIs in 296 career games.

Rupp graduated from Texas in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in science in applied learning and development.
