Mavs Post Strong Showing at Gerald Richey Invitational
ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington cross country teams hosted the Gerald Richey Invitational this morning at Harold Patterson Sports Complex as the men shined, capturing a first-place finish.
Transfer Toby Eaton and freshmen Mateo Doherty and Kebede Kerlin ranked in the top 10 for the men's squad as freshman Dorcas Jepkosgei had quite the debut in the orange and blue with a second-place finish, guiding the women to a third-place finish.
Eaton paced the Mavs with a time of 15:07.1 for a fourth-place finish as Doherty followed closely behind in fifth with a time of 15:10.7. Kerlin rounded out the top 10 finishers with a solid time of 15:17.6.
Angel Sanchez (16th) and Jameson Stewart (21st) completed their first meet as Mavericks with top 20 outings.

"I am very pleased with how they performed this morning leading to a team title," shared Sauerhage. "We've got a good group and I'm looking forward to seeing even better results."
Freshman Jepkosgei settled in nicely in her first collegiate appearance, capturing a time of 16:43.5. Junior Matro Jepkemboi had a great start to the 2025 campaign with a fourth-place finish with a time of 17:19.5.
Sophomores Lauren Baur and Emilia Mandl along with freshman Linn Adolfsson rounded out the top five performers as Mandl tabbed a time of 18:51.1, Baur at 18:32.9 and Adolfsson at 19:08.5.

"She had a good summer coming in from Kenya," said Sauerhage. "She competed with one of the top girls in the South Central Region last year and that's a tremendous indicator that Dorcas is going to have a great season."

The Mavs return to action next Saturday, September 13, as they travel to College Station for the Texas A&M Invitational.
