Jepkosgei Named WAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

ARLINGTON, Texas – For the first time this season, freshman Dorcas Jepkosgei has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday.

Jepkosgei had quite the collegiate debut in UTA's season opener last Friday at the Mavericks' very own Gerald Richey Invitational where the Kenya native tabbed a second-place finish with a time of 16:43.5 in the women's 5k, guiding the squad to a third-place finish.

The newcomer becomes the first Mav on both the women's and men's side to take home the weekly conference honors this season.

The women's squad is ranked 15th in the South Central Region as updated regional rankings drop next Monday, September 15 from USTFCCCA.

The Mavs and Jepkosgei return to action this upcoming Saturday, September 13, as they travel to College Station to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational.
