In response to predicted growth in technology management jobs and an increased demand for skilled workers, The University of Texas at Arlington is unveiling a new, one-of-a-kind STEM-focused MBA program.
The STEM-designated Master of Business Administration in technology management and innovation will launch in the spring of 2025. Housed in UTA’s College of Business, it will focus on applying data analysis to inform business decisions and lead transformational changes and innovation.
“There is going to be significant job growth in the technology industry within the next decade,” said Fernando Jaramillo, associate dean for students and programs in the College of Business. “Our new program will allow our graduates to be technologically savvy and lead teams to implement emerging technology to solve business problems.”
Dr. Jaramillo said the new 36-hour program will equip graduates with skills that industry leaders look for in their employees and potential new hires—such as managerial communications and analytical skills—while also introducing them to foundational knowledge of various business disciplines. A broad set of electives will enable students to gain insights into critical technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data analytics.
“Our new program will train students to lead technological advancements, business growth and efficiency in a rapidly advancing world,” said Radha Mahapatra, chair of the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management. “Our graduates will be the bridge between business executives and technology developers.”
Graduates of this program will also benefit from UTA’s strategic location in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, one of the fastest-growing regions in the U.S. and home to 21 Fortune 500 companies.
