The Inaugural Annual Juried UTA Student Exhibition at the Arlington Museum of Art is on view from November 8, 2024- January 5, 2025.Juried by the Dallas Contemporary Associate Curator Emily Edwards, this exhibition features works by current graduate and undergraduate students and recent alumni.Featured works are by: Alia Almosawi, Christina Childress, Lisa Clavton, Chris Cravton, Paula Currie, Vy Dang, David Galvan Cruz, Xochitl Garcia, Shang Gou, Lucas Gustafson, Audrey Hatter, Evelyn Kennedy, America Luna, Yasmine Muhammad, Dorian Parkhurst, Michelle Perez, Evelia Sanchez, Phoenix Sanders, Emelie Stenhammar, Lauren Tallman, Emma Valenzuela, Phoenix Warren, and Grace Witkinson.The exhibition opening reception will be Thursday, Nov. 7, 6-8 p.m.

Do you like Space? Do you like Maps? How about maps of space?! UTA Special Collections is proud to present a new exhibition titled Cosmic Cartography . Featuring maps and charts dating from 1548 to 2024, the exhibit explores humanity's desire to explain our understanding of the universe through maps. In the exhibit, you will see maps that explore the model of the universe - from the ancients who believed in an Earth-centered system to Copernicus who put the Sun at the center, and beyond; maps of our Solar System and planetary bodies; and maps that explore Constellations and the Zodiac.Giveaways will be available while supplies last!The exhibit is located on the sixth floor of Central Library in Special Collections. It is open Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Open textbooks can alleviate the burden of educational costs for students and provide faculty with content that can be customized for their courses. Open textbooks are full, real textbooks, used by many faculty across the country, including here at UTA. They are licensed to be freely used, edited, and distributed. Many are also accompanied by customizable slides, test banks, and other supplemental materials.After the workshop, you’ll be asked to write a short review of an open textbook from the Open Textbook Library. Your review will benefit other faculty considering open textbooks, and you’ll receive a $200 stipend for your participation and written review. Everyone is welcome to attend the workshop, but only University employees classified as faculty are eligible to receive a stipend.An RSVP is recommended to attend this event. Lunch will be provided.

MavGrad Celebration is a fun and family-friendly event where UTA’s graduating students can celebrate with their peers, friends, and family. This free event will feature food, drinks, music by The Inspiration Band, photo opportunities, and festive activities. The graduating class of 2024 will be recognized with a celebratory toast at 7:45 p.m, and graduating students can stop by the Alumni Relations table to receive their first UTA alumni T-shirt while supplies last.The celebration will be held in the Bluebonnet Ballroom of the E.H. Hereford University Center.
