The University of Texas at Arlington invites you to the Annual Choral Festival, a celebration of choral excellence and collaboration. Curated by Jorge Baldor, historian, art collector, and founder of the Latino Arts Project, this densely layered exhibition centers on the centuries-long journey of the Gullah-Muscogo people and their culture - from West Africa to the eventual founding of the town of Nacimiento de los Negros, Mexico.Part art exhibition, part archival display, Baldor has paired artists working in diverse media with historical documents, maps and artifacts to tell "a story of resilience, culture and freedom."The exhibition also includes a selection of oil pastel on paper sketches by renowned contemporary artist Sedrick Huckaby who visited Mexico over a four-month period in 2023 to work on this portrait series of the present-day people of Nacimiento that depicts a community deeply connected to their history.

Artful Moments is being offered exclusively for UTA staff and faculty by the Counseling and Psychological Services Department. You are invited to explore mindfulness through play and creativity—no art skills needed! Together, we will use simple, fun activities to relax and express ourselves. This group is all about enjoying the creative process and being present in the moment. The class is limited to 15 participants. If interested, register via Mavengage.
